Peace of Winter
A tropical location is not an option at the moment, so I'm going to love the one I'm with. I took this today on a very relaxing x - country ski. New snow, on top of 35 inches of recent powder -- with a hint of human happiness. This is a reason to love Winter.
New England Winter ... Deal With It
If you can't beat em join em. That's the way this Winter is going for most of us around here in New England. When cold -- skate, when snowy -- stud up and ride bikes, when blizzard -- cross country ski. Or, pack up and go to Florida.
Special thanks to cousin Myles Heffernan and his band Howard -- a rising sensation in NYC. This song, Falling, was just highlighted on NPR's All Songs Considered.
Thoughts of Summer
On the coldest day of the year (so far), is it wrong to dream of warmer months past? I don't think so. So let's go underwater on a clear lake in Maine, in the month of August. Oh, and keep your head down ...
Next Stop Exeter
Sitting in the Good Karma Cafe, the snow is falling and the holiday lights are humming on the train station within sight. Can't think of a better reason to drag this fine shot out of retirement. Happy Holidays.
Once in a Blue Flame
In all the hustle of taking photographs for Blue Moon (a really sweet restaurant here in Exeter, NH), this one jumped out and wouldn't let go. Yes we got the deserts, drinks and people -- but had to double back for blue flame.

HBO State of Play Trailer (vid)
First glimpse of our work on HBO's State of Play, based on our friend and fellow rider Steve Shope.
Watch out ... NO BRAKES (vid)
The annual Gordon Barker "No Brakes Bike Race" is here. Shot totally on GoPro at last years' event. An race that celebrates a great local rider with proceeds going to the great Stratham Hill Park.
NFL ... not all bad
While struggling lately with the myriad of NFL issues that seem to surface on a weekly basis, I happened to land on some images parked on an old hard-drive. Having personally felt the effects of CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy) on my own family, I continue to struggle watching the guys on the Pats take one crushing head-shot after another. It's truly amazing how tough these guys are, but in the end we see how truly human they really are on all levels.
I witnessed this first-hand with Ed Reed during a shoot for Xterra years ago. I have to admit, as I sit here looking back, I was totally intimidated. I would love to have a do-over on this one -- slow things down -- get the shot I really wanted. But Ed was huge and I was not. It was only after a couple of bevs with Ed did I realize he was totally mellow and up for anything, but time slipped away as did Ed with his entourage. Thanks Ed.

Sum Sum Summertime (vid)
what happens when a guy with a camera hangs out with his family for a couple weeks on a lake ... some good stuff.
